Vigilance Awareness Week is an annual event observed in India to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life. It is celebrated every year from 30th October to 5th November. The week coincides with the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is known for his high integrity. The Central Vigilance Commission, which is the apex integrity institution of the country, endeavors to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life. The purpose of the week is to generate awareness among the public about the ill effects of corruption. During the week, various activities are organized to create awareness about the importance of integrity and to encourage people to take a pledge to fight corruption. The theme for Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 is yet to be announced. However, the theme for Vigilance Awareness Week 2021 was "Independent India @ 75: Self Reliance with Integrity". The week is observed across government departments and public sector undertakings (PSUs) . The Central Vigilance Commission observes Vigilance Awareness Week during the week in which 31st October, the birthday of late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel falls.
