A Virtual Payment Address (VPA) is a unique identifier used in the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system in India. It acts as an ID independent of a persons bank account number and other details, and helps UPI to track a persons account. A typical VPA looks something like abc@bankname, where the abc part can be anything, such as a persons name or registered mobile number, and the bank name can be the name of the bank where the account is held. A VPA can be used to make and request payments through a UPI-enabled app, and it eliminates the need to fill in bank account details repeatedly for making multiple payments.
