Vyvanse is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and above. It is not for weight loss or to treat obesity. Vyvanse is an amphetamine and a federally controlled substance (CII) because it can be abused or lead to dependence. It is a prodrug stimulant for ADHD. Vyvanse is used as a part of a total treatment program that may include psychological, educational, and social therapy. Before taking Vyvanse, it is important to tell your doctor if you or your child have any heart problems, heart defects, high blood pressure, or a family history of these problems, or if you or your child have, or about a family history of suicide, bipolar illness, or depression.
