VSC stands for Vehicle Stability Control, which is a stability control system that Toyota uses in their vehicles. It is an electronic system designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control under adverse conditions. VSC is largely connected to Traction Control (TRAC), both of which help to keep the car stabilized when driving on slippery roads or in other adverse weather or road conditions. The purpose of the system is to keep the vehicle headed where the wheels are pointed. The VSC Off button is used to turn off both TRAC and VSC when the front wheels are stuck, whether in snow or mud, to allow the driver to rock the vehicle back and forth in order to get unstuck. When the VSC Off button is pressed, an indicator light will show up on the dashboard, warning the driver that these features are turned off and reminding them to turn them back on when they are ready to do so.
