Waste Reduction Week is an annual week-long celebration in Canada that gives individuals, schools, municipalities, and businesses a chance to lead by example and take action to reduce, reuse, and recycle. It is a unique program focused solely on the principles of circular economy, resource efficiency, and waste reduction. Waste Reduction Week is celebrated during the third week of October, and in 2023, it will take place from October 16 to 22. The week is part of Circular Economy Month, which was launched in 2022 as the evolution of Waste Reduction Week in Canada and will continue throughout 2023-2024. The program is structured into four weekly themes, and each week in October centers around a different pillar of the circular economy that will educate and encourage sustainable action across Canada. Waste Reduction Week highlights the impacts waste has on our world, celebrates those who are working hard to reduce their waste, and provides practical solutions to help individuals reduce their waste. The week also provides students and teachers from across Canada with an excellent opportunity to explore the social, economic, and environmental impacts of waste and to take action to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste within their own communities.
