WOD stands for "Workout of the Day" and is a term used to describe the workout portion of a CrossFit class. CrossFit workouts include varied functional movements that are typically completed at a high intensity. Workouts can include bodyweight movements, gymnastics, cardio, and weightlifting. Every CrossFit workout is written "as prescribed" or "Rx," but every single movement can be scaled down to accommodate any level of athlete. CrossFit.com posts a WOD every single day for inspiration. In addition to CrossFit, other gyms and fitness programs may also use the term WOD to describe their daily workout routine. The WOD is just a part of the 60-minute class, which typically includes a warm-up, strength or skill work, WOD, and cool-down. As you program your WODs, you can consider different types of workouts, such as AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible), EMOM (Every Minute On the Minute), couplet (a WOD consisting of two exercises), triplet (a WOD consisting of three exercises), and chipper (a WOD that features a series of movements that wont be repeated).
