A WPA key is a password used to connect to a wireless network that is part of the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) scheme of wireless internet security. It is a string of 256 bits of data that can be generated directly by a user and shared in the form of a hexadecimal key that is 64 digits in length. Alternatively, a passphrase consisting of strings of up to 63 ASCII characters can be used, along with a key derivation function. The WPA key is shared to all devices that are meant to have network access, and ideally, this sharing is done offline to prevent interception. If you need to find your WPA key, you can contact the person who set up your network, check the documentation that came with your access point, view the security settings on the access point, or look for the WEP key or WPA/WPA2 preshared key/passphrase.
