ZED Certification stands for Zero Defect Zero Effect Certification, which is a certification system operated by the Quality Council of India to promote competitive, quality, and clean manufacturing among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) . The certification system aims to create awareness among MSMEs about ZED practices and motivate them to adopt these practices. The ZED Certification system has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, and each level is based on well-defined parameters of quality, safety, production, cleanliness, energy, environment, and more. The certification system is affordable and transparent, and the cost of certification varies depending on the level of certification. The objectives of ZED certification include encouraging and enabling MSMEs to manufacture quality products using the latest technology, tools, and processes, and to constantly upgrade their processes for the achievement of high quality and high productivity. The ZED certification system is a substantial drive to create recognition among MSMEs about the ZED movement and aims to strengthen the competitiveness of an organization by guidance, assessment, handholding, managerial, modification, technological intervention, and not just certification.
