Zionism is an English word that means "Yahoodiyon Ki Qomi Tahreeq" in Urdu, which refers to a movement in what is now Israel for the re-establishment and development, and protection of a Jewish country. It was founded in 1897 by Theodor Herzl as a political movement and later directed by Chaim Weizmann. A person who believes in the development and protection of a Jewish country in what is now Israel is referred to as a Zionist. The meaning of Zionist in Urdu is "حامی صیہونیت" as written in Urdu script, or "Hami sehviniat" as written in Roman Urdu. Other possible Urdu translations for Zionism include "Sehoniat" and "Yahudion Ko Phir Falasteen Mein Abad Karnay Ka Haami".
