Rudolph Isley, one of the founding members of the R&B group The Isley Brothers, has died at the age of 84. Rudolph died on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, but the cause of death was not disclosed. Rudolph was an original member of the family musical group that consisted of him and his brothers OKelly "Kelly" Isley Jr. and Ronald Isley. The Isley Brothers band was formed in the mid-1950s when Rudolph, Ronald, O’Kelly, and Vernon Isley started a gospel quartet as teenagers. The group had their first hit in 1959 with "Shout," which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. The Isley Brothers have been nominated for multiple Grammy awards and won the prize for best R&B vocal performance by a duo or group in 1970 for "Its Your Thing". The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and in 2014, the band received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Recording Academy. Rudolph had not performed with the band since 1986. He left the music industry in 1989 to pursue a life in Christian ministry, but reunited with the group in 1992 when The Isley Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
