Stink bugs can be a nuisance when they invade our homes, but there are several ways to get rid of them. Here are some strategies to kill or repel stink bugs:

1. Chemical sprays: Common chemical sprays contain deltamethrin, a pesticide known to kill stink bugs, and can be used near common entry points or around windows or other spots where the bugs like to congregate.

2. Garlic spray: Garlic repels stink bugs and is a natural deterrent. Create your own garlic spray by mixing two cups of water and four teaspoons of garlic powder or a handful of garlic cloves and spray on indoor windowsills where stink bugs are likely to enter your home.

3. Vacuum: Stink bugs crawl very slowly, which makes them easy to kill. Use an insect-trapping vacuum (or similar bug zapper) to remove them without smushing them or causing distress. Once you’ve sucked up the bugs, remove the bag and put it in the outdoor trash.

4. Soapy water: Fill a wide-mouth jar with soapy water (add some vinegar for extra killing power), move it into position beneath a stink bug, and most often it will drop right into the suds and drown. Combine equal parts hot water and dish soap in a spray bottle and spray on windowsill entry points.

5. Diatomaceous earth: This earth-friendly pesticide powder made from natural rock can be placed at entryways like doors and windows both inside and outside and breaks down the stink bug’s protective exoskeleton so they eventually die of dehydration.

6. Fly tape: Place fly tape at entryways to trap stink bugs.

7. Prevention: Seal up any cracks around the house where stink bugs can enter. Check for broken screens, too.
