Azerbaijan’s official language is Azerbaijani (also called Azeri). It is the predominant language spoken by the vast majority of the population and serves as the main language of government, education, media, and daily communication. In addition to Azerbaijani, several minority languages are spoken by smaller communities, including Lezgian, Talysh, Avar, Russian, Georgian, and others, though these languages are not official nationwide. English is increasingly used in education and business, but it is not an official language of the country.
