The native language in Bali is Balinese, which is spoken by the locals on the island. However, most Balinese are bilingual and can speak Indonesian, which is the official language of Indonesia and is used across the country. English is also widely spoken in urban Bali, while rural villages make use of Balinese. Visitors to Bali should not have any problems getting around and communicating with anyone, as most of the locals speak a decent amount of English. However, attempting to speak in the local language such as Balinese will almost certainly please the locals.
