The New Testament was written in Greek, specifically in a form of Koine Greek, which was the common language of the Eastern Mediterranean from the conquests of Alexander the Great until the evolution of Byzantine Greek. Although Aramaic was the language spoken in Israel during Jesus time on earth, the gospels were written in Greek. The Old Testament, on the other hand, was primarily written in Hebrew, with a few chapters in the prophecies of Ezra and Daniel and one verse in Jeremiah written in Aramaic.
