"What Lies Beneath" is a 2000 American psychological supernatural horror film directed by Robert Zemeckis, starring Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer. The movie follows Claire Spencer (Pfeiffer), a former cellist married to respected scientist Dr. Norman Spencer (Ford). Their seemingly perfect life is upended when Claire starts seeing a ghost. Norman brushes it off, but as Claire investigates the ghosts past, she discovers that the real danger hits much closer to home. The ending of the movie reveals that Norman had an affair with one of his former students, Madison Elizabeth Frank, and drowned her to keep it a secret. When Claire confronts Norman, he tries to drown her to cover it up, but she outwits him and, in the end, the spirit of Madison Frank helps drag him to a watery grave. Additionally, there is a face in the snow at the end of the movie, which is presumably the dead girls.
