At a minimum, the CUI banner and footer acronym are required on a DoD document containing controlled unclassified information. The acronym "CUI" must be included in the banner and footer of the document. Additionally, there is a requirement to add the CUI designation indicator to the first page or cover of any document containing CUI. This indicator will be located in the lower right corner and must contain at a minimum the name of the DoD Component determining that the information is CUI.
