The General Lee car in The Dukes of Hazzard was an orange 1969 Dodge Charger. This iconic car was known for its distinctive features including a Confederate battle flag on the roof, the number "01" on the doors, a signature horn that plays the first 12 notes of the song "Dixie," and for having its doors welded shut so the characters had to climb in and out through the windows. Multiple Dodge Chargers were used throughout the filming of the TV series, with some 1968 models also covertly swapped in during production. The General Lee cars in the series were powered by a variety of engines including 318, 383, and 440 cubic inch V8s, with most of the stunt cars favoring the more powerful 383 and 440 engines. The car became a symbol of the show and is remembered for its thrilling police chases and spectacular jumps.
