In the UK, most people can get a piercing without parental consent from the age of 16. According to Rogue Piercing, from the age of 16, parental consent is no longer required for any piercing. However, if you are under the age of 16, you will need to have parental consent. Different local authorities and piercing parlors have their own rules, so it is important to check these before booking an appointment.
According to Rogue Piercing, the following piercings are available to the following age groups:
- Ages 8 and over (With ID for Parent and Child): Ear lobe piercings only (Large-gauge piercings not included!)
- Ages 14 and over (With ID for Parent and Child): Ear cartilage piercings, Nose piercings (Nostril only, this excludes septum piercings), Navel piercings
- Ages 16 and over (With ID for the piercee): Septum piercings, Lip piercings, All piercings strictly excluding Intimates, Tongue, Nipple, Surface, Bridge, Cheek piercings and microdermals.
It is important to note that different piercing parlors may have different policies and age restrictions, so it is important to check with the specific parlor before booking an appointment.
