President Theodore Roosevelt officially gave the White House its current name in 1901. Prior to that, the building was referred to as the Presidents Palace, Presidential Mansion, or Presidents House. The earliest evidence of the public calling it the "White House" was recorded in 1811, but it was not until Roosevelts executive order that the name became official.
