Lucy Letby, the nurse who was sentenced to a whole-life order for murdering seven babies, is reportedly being sent to HMP Low Newton in Durham to serve her sentence. HMP Low Newton is a maximum-security prison that houses some of Britains most high-profile criminals, including Baby Ps mother Tracey Connelly and "House of Horrors" killer Rosemary West. The prison has seven wings plus a healthcare unit, and prisoners and staff take great pride in cleaning these areas and keeping the prison tidy. Women at Low Newton have the option of shopping at the prison shop, Rags to Riches, and the prison has organised animal visits, including goats, sheep, a residential rabbit, and two birds, which have had a calming effect on the prisoners. Letby will have restricted status, which is considered the female equivalent of Category A, meaning she is the highest-risk threat to the public. She will be on suicide watch for some months and will have very little human contact, associating mostly with prison officers, her key worker in the prison, and one or two cleaners. It is expected that Letby will be moved to a lower-security prison later in life to see out her final days before her death behind bars.
