The artificial lake for Sagar was created in 1892 in Ajmer as a part of a famine relief project to remove the scarcity of water in Ajmer during deficiency. The lake was constructed under the supervision of an English engineer named Mr. Foy. The highest depth of the lake was 74 feet and the height of the dam was around 59 feet at the time of its construction. The lake was named after the engineer Mr. Foy.
