The true name of Yodas species is not recorded, and it remains a mystery in the Star Wars universe. George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, has chosen to keep their species a secret, and has even joked that Yoda is the love child of Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog. While Yoda is the most well-known member of his species, there are two other known characters of the same species: Yaddle, a member of the Jedi Council in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and Grogu, a child from Yodas species who appears in The Mandalorian. All three characters share a similar appearance, with green skin, long ears, and a small stature. They also share a strong connection to the Force, and are referred to almost exclusively as "Yodas species". Despite much speculation and fan theories, there is no official name for Yodas species in the Star Wars canon.
