Mohbad, the Nigerian musician, died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 in Lagos. The Lagos State Police investigation revealed that his death resulted from complications following an injury sustained during a violent fight with his childhood friend, Prime Boy. Mohbad had injured his hand by smashing a car window during the altercation, which later became swollen and painful. A nursing assistant, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, was called to treat Mohbad at his residence. She administered three injections-Tetanus Toxoid, Paracetamol (IV), and Ceftriaxone (IV)-which she later admitted triggered adverse reactions including vomiting, convulsions, and ultimately led to his death. The police named her the prime suspect, noting that she was not qualified to administer such medications and did so in a non-clinical environment, violating medical protocols. Other individuals, including Mohbad’s friend Ayobami Sadiq, Prime Boy, and others, were also implicated in the investigation
. An autopsy conducted on Mohbad’s body failed to definitively determine the cause of death. The pathologist suggested that his death might be linked to reactions from the drugs administered before he died but could not confirm this conclusively. The autopsy report remains inconclusive, adding to the suspicion around the circumstances of his death
. In summary, Mohbad’s death was caused by complications from an injury sustained in a fight, exacerbated by medical negligence in the administration of injections by an unqualified nursing assistant, which triggered fatal reactions
