Taylor Swift is currently signed to Republic Records, which is a label partner of Universal Music Group (UMG) . Swift signed a global recording agreement with UMG in 2018, which made UMG her exclusive worldwide recorded music partner and Republic Records her label partner in the US. Before signing with Republic Records, Swift was signed to Big Machine Records in 2005 to become a country singer. However, in 2019, Swift came into dispute with Big Machine Records, its founder Scott Borchetta, and new owner Scooter Braun, over the ownership of her master recordings. Swift has since re-recorded her music and released them as "Taylors Versions".
