Lionel Messi is a Christian and a devout Roman Catholic. He has never hidden his faith, although he speaks little of it. Messi was born and raised in Argentina, where around 90% of the population is Christian, with the majority denomination being Catholic. Messis upbringing was in this background, and it still means a great deal to him. He takes his duties as a Catholic very seriously and is known for his beliefs in helping those less fortunate than himself, especially vulnerable young people. To fulfill his prophet role as a Catholic, he has set up the Leo Messi Foundation, fighting for justice and making sure every child has the same opportunity to achieve their dreams. Messi has also endorsed Unicef and donated to its projects in Kenya. Messi has a tattoo of Jesus wearing a crown of thorns on his right arm, and on his right elbow, he has a rose window inspired by La Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona, where he has spent most of his career. Messi is often seen visiting the Sagrada La Familia and almost always dedicates his goals to God by kneeling down and pointing to the sky with both hands, which refers to the uniqueness of God and shows that there is only one God.
