Gloria Estefan attended Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami for high school, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She then attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where she graduated in 1979 with a B.A. in psychology and a minor in French. While studying at the university, she worked as an English, Spanish, and French translator at Miami International Airports Customs Department and was once approached by the CIA as a possible employee because of her language abilities.
