According to multiple sources, the fire at Luton Airports Terminal 2 parking lot was caused by a diesel-powered vehicle that had just arrived at the car park. The fire quickly spread to nearby vehicles, causing significant damage to up to 1,500 cars. The fire service received the first report about the blaze at 8:47 pm on October 10, and the fire was eventually extinguished the next morning. No members of the public were harmed, but four firefighters and a member of the airport staff team were treated for mild smoke inhalation. The airport was closed until at least 3 pm on October 11, and all flights were suspended.
