Target is closing nine stores across four states, including three in the San Francisco Bay Area, due to theft and organized retail crime that have threatened the safety of its workers and customers. The stores will close on October 21, 2023, and affected workers will be offered the opportunity to transfer to other stores. The following are the three Target stores that will close in the Bay Area:
- San Francisco: 1690 Folsom St. (Folsom and 13th St)
- Oakland: 2650 Broadway (Oakland Broadway & 27th)
- Pittsburg: 4301 Century Blvd
Target will still have a combined 150 stores open in the markets where the closures are taking place.
