Silicone does not have a definitive melting point, but it remains solid until combustion occurs. The exact melting temperature of silicone varies depending on the type or grade of silicone used. However, silicone rubber can withstand extreme temperatures, and it has been tested to withstand continuous temperatures of 230°C, which is suitable for many high-temperature applications. At about 200°C, silicone will begin losing its elastic properties, and it will become harder and less stretchy with time. If the silicone is heated beyond 300°C, it will quickly become harder and less stretchy in a very short time due to such extreme temperature conditions, but it will not melt. The temperature range of silicone products is typically between -60°C and 230°C, but special grades are available to further increase their resistance to heat, such as silicone grade THT, which can be used intermittently at temperatures up to 350°C.
