Lisbon is a vibrant city with hospitable people, delicious food, and some of Europes most spectacular buildings. If you only have two days in Lisbon, here are some things you can do:

Day 1:

  • Start your day by exploring Lisbons historical center, which is the heart of the city. You can ride Tram 28 to St. Georges Castle, which is a great way to see the citys sights.
  • Visit Rossio Square, which is a popular meeting place for locals and tourists alike.
  • Take a stroll through the bohemian district of Bairro Alto, which is known for its vibrant nightlife scene.
  • If youre interested in food and wine, take a 3-hour gourmet walking tour of Lisbons best food and wine spots.
  • End your day by enjoying the nightlife in Chiado and Bairro Alto.

Day 2:

  • Take a bus to Parque das Nações, which is one of the most modern areas in Lisbon. It was designed for the 1998 Expo and is now an area full of restaurants, bars, shopping centers, and other top attractions, like the Oceanário de Lisboa.
  • Visit Belém, which is the most fabulous parish in Lisbon. It houses two of the citys most impressive landmarks: the Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower. You can also find the 25 April Bridge, the Monument to the Discoveries, and the National Coach Museum in Belém, not to mention its renowned pastéis de Belém.
  • If you have more than two days in Lisbon, you can venture outside the city limits to Sintra and an afternoon-evening in Belem. Many travelers visiting Lisbon wish to add a quick day trip to the Pena Palace located in Sintra.

Before heading to any of the citys attractions, it is suggested to purchase a one-day travel card, since it is quite cheap and youll get more than your moneys worth out of it. Even if youve traveled to Lisbon by car, it is recommended to leave it parked and take the citys public transport or walk around the city. If possible, try to visit Lisbon during the weekdays since Lisbon is a hot weekend getaway in Europe. If you can only spend two days in Lisbon during the peak season, it is advised to buy Skip the Line tickets for the main attractions to avoid wasting time queueing.
