Monstera aerial roots have a natural climbing habit, and you can train them to grow up against walls or moss poles. If you dont like the look of the aerial roots, you can prune them off close to the stem with sterilized, sharp shears. However, before you cut them off, consider training them back down into the potting medium to provide support for the plant. If the aerial roots are too long and wild-looking, you can trim them back without harming the plant. Cutting the aerial roots near where they attach to the stem won’t harm the plant, but expect them to grow back over time. You can also give your Monstera something to grab onto, such as a moss totem or pole, which the Monstera can attach to and grow up over time. If you prefer a sleek appearance, its absolutely fine to trim these roots off, but more will take their place over time. Ultimately, what you do with the aerial roots is a matter of personal preference.
