Zuza had acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a type of aggressive blood cancer that originates in the bone marrow. She was diagnosed with AML when she was about 3 years old and battled the disease for over a decade until her death at age 14. Despite undergoing multiple treatments including chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants, the cancer recurred several times during her life.
