Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States dedicated to honoring all military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. It is observed on November 11 each year and originated as Armistice Day to mark the end of World War I; it was later renamed Veterans Day to honor all veterans, living and deceased. It is distinct from Memorial Day (which honors those who died in military service) and Armed Forces Day (which honors those currently serving). Many federal offices, banks, and schools observe the holiday, and ceremonies, parades, and moments of reflection are common nationwide.
