To fly, the type of ID you need depends on whether your flight is domestic or international and your country of travel:

For Domestic Flights (U.S.)

• Starting May 7, 2025, you must present a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or state ID to board a domestic flight. REAL ID cards have a star marking indicating compliance with federal standards.
• Alternatively, you can use a U.S. passport , U.S. passport card, U.S. military ID, permanent resident card, or other TSA-accepted IDs.
• If you arrive without ID, TSA may allow you to fly after an identity verification process, but this requires extra time and cooperation with TSA agents.

For International Flights

• You must carry a valid passport issued by your country of citizenship.
• Some countries also require a visa.
• Driver’s licenses or state IDs, including REAL IDs, are not accepted for international travel

For Canadian Domestic Flights

• One valid government-issued photo ID with your full name and date of birth, such as a provincial driver's license, health card, or passport.
• Alternatively, two pieces of government-issued ID with your name, one including your date of birth.
• All IDs must be valid and not expired

For Domestic Flights in India

• Acceptable IDs include passport, voter ID, Aadhaar card, PAN card, driver's license, government-issued photo ID, student ID, and others.
• DigiLocker digital documents are also accepted.
• Infants and minors require proof of identity when traveling
