The first commercial spacecraft to visit the International Space Station (ISS) was the Crew Dragon spacecraft, which was developed and produced by SpaceX. The Crew Dragon spacecraft was launched on November 16, 2020, and carried a crew of four astronauts to the ISS. This was the first operational crewed flight of the Crew Dragon spacecraft and the second crewed orbital flight launch by the United States since STS-135 in July 2011. Prior to this, SpaceXs Dragon cargo spacecraft made history when it was the first private spacecraft to berth with the ISS in 2012. However, the Dragon cargo spacecraft was not designed for carrying astronauts.
