The music festival in Israel was called Nova and was held in the Negev desert in southern Israel to celebrate the Jewish holiday Sukkot and touted as an event celebrating “unity and love” . The festival was intended to be the first in a series of dance events at that space in Israel. The festival was a rave that attracted thousands of Israelis and foreign nationals. However, the festival turned into a frenzied massacre when Hamas militants attacked the festival in the desert area early Saturday, killing an estimated 260 people. The attack appeared to be premeditated and highly coordinated, with videos uploaded by attendees showing the sky above them suddenly dotted with militants on hang gliders. The attack on the music festival was part of the larger assault on Israel by Hamas fighters who blew through a fortified border fence in an unprecedented surprise attack that began Saturday. The festival became not just the worst Israeli civilian massacre ever, but the deadliest concert attack in history. The festival is now being spotlighted in a documentary called "Supernova Music Festival".
