According to Islamic eschatology, Imam Mahdi is the final leader who will appear at the end of times to rid the world of evil and injustice. He is believed to be a righteous man from among the descendants of Prophet Muhammad, who will appear at the end of time, through whom Allah will set mankind’s affairs straight, and will fill the earth with fairness and justice just as it was filled with wrongdoing and oppression. Some of the things that Imam Mahdi is believed to do include:

• Unite people: He will unite the hearts with the unity of faith. He establishes friendship, brotherhood, respect, and love so much so that a wolf and a lamb will live together.

• Eradicate injustice and evil: He will eradicate injustice and evil from the world.

• Restore true religion: He is viewed as the restorer of true Islam, and the restorer of other monotheistic religions after their distortion and abandonment. He establishes the kingdom of God on earth and Islamizes the whole world.

• Confront enemies: During his uprising, he will confront various groups and bands, including hypocrites, followers of deviant sects, and followers of religions other than Islam. He will implement the punishment of God for most of them.

• Appear with a new program: He will stage the uprising with a new program, a novel tradition, and innovative judgment.

• Appear with a miraculous sign: He will arrive wearing an Imamah, and a proclaimer will come, raising his voice that he is Mahdi, the caliph of Allah.

It is believed that the appearance of Imam Mahdi will take place before the Day of Judgment, which will bring peace and justice in this world.
