According to the lyrics of Meat Loafs Grammy-winning power ballad "Id Do Anything For Love (But I Wont Do That)," there are several things that he would do for love, but there is one thing that he wont do. The song mentions two things that Meat Loaf would do for love, followed by one thing he will not do, with "that" referring to the promise he made earlier in the verse. The four things he says he will never do are:

• Forget the way you feel right now
• Forgive myself if we dont go all the way tonight
• Do it better than I do it with you
• Stop dreaming of you every night of my life

The songs conclusion has the woman predicting two things that he will do: "Youll see that its time to move on," and "Youll be screwing around." To both of these, the male emphatically responds, "I wont do that!". In a 1998 VH1 Storytellers special, Meat Loaf even explained it on stage using a blackboard and a pointing stick.
