Powerball is a lottery game that offers nine ways to win. The jackpot is won by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball. The top prize starts at $20 million and increases every time it is not won. If there are multiple winners of the jackpot, it will be shared equally between them. The eight prizes below the jackpot are fixed amounts, so for these prizes, there is a guaranteed payout regardless of how many winning players there are. The possible winning tickets and their cash prizes are as follows:
- Match all 5 white numbers only — $1 million
- Match 4 out of 5 white numbers + Powerball — $50,000
- Match 4 white numbers only — $100
- Match 3 white numbers + Powerball — $100
- Match 3 white numbers only — $7
- Match 2 white numbers + Powerball — $7
- Match 1 white number + Powerball — $4
- Match Powerball only — $4
The Powerball prize chart shows how many numbers you need to match to win the different prizes and the odds of winning each. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.87. The odds presented are based on a $2 play. The Power Play feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times. The multiplier number is randomly selected before each drawing. The 10X multiplier is only in play when the advertised jackpot annuity is $150 million or less.
