President Dwight Eisenhower held the first televised (film footage) presidential press conference on January 19, 1955, in the Indian Treaty Room. However, President John F. Kennedy was the first to use the medium of television to address the American people live without delay or editing. From the auditorium of the State Department, Kennedys press conference was carried live on both radio and television on January 25, 1961. Therefore, the first presidential news conference filmed for television was held by President Dwight Eisenhower in January 1955.
