There are currently four zoos in the US that have pandas, but this number will decrease to one by the end of 2024. The four zoos that currently have pandas are:

• Zoo Atlanta in Atlanta, GA
• Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, DC
• Memphis Zoo in Memphis, TN
• San Diego Zoo in San Diego, CA

The San Diego Zoo returned its pandas in 2019, and the last bear at the Memphis Zoo went home earlier this year. The National Zoo in Washington, D.C. will return its three pandas to China by December 7, 2023, leaving only the Atlanta Zoo with pandas in the US. However, the loan agreement for the pandas at the Atlanta Zoo expires in late 2024, and there are no signs of it being renewed.
