When a common molded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) trips, the operating handle will be in a middle, intermediate position between ON and OFF. This tripped position indicates that the breaker has interrupted the circuit due to a fault or overload condition, rather than being turned off manually. The handle does not move fully to the OFF position when tripped; instead, it rests midway to clearly signal that a trip event occurred and not a manual switch-off. To reset, the handle must first be moved fully to OFF and then back to ON.
