England did not qualify for the UEFA European Championship (the Euros) five times in history: 1964, 1972, 1976, 1984, and most recently in 2008. Their failure to qualify for Euro 2008 came after a 3-2 defeat to Croatia at Wembley in 2007, which ended their qualification hopes and led to the sacking of manager Steve McClaren. Since then, England has qualified for every major tournament including the Euros.
