The original Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game was first released in November 1997 for MS-DOS and Windows, followed by a PlayStation release in December 1997. It marked the beginning of the popular GTA series. For context on later releases, Grand Theft Auto V, one of the most famous in the series, was first released on September 17, 2013, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and later on other platforms. The next upcoming installment, Grand Theft Auto VI, is officially set to release on May 26, 2026.
