Hurricane Ian hit Florida on September 28, 2022. It made landfall on Cayo Costa, a barrier island on the Gulf Coast of Florida, at about 3:05 PM with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph, making it a Category 4 hurricane at that time. It caused catastrophic damage along the southwest coast of Florida, including areas around Fort Myers and Cape Coral.
