Babies typically start sitting up with some support around 4 to 6 months of age. They usually master sitting independently between 6 to 9 months. Early on, babies may sit using their arms for balance (tripod sitting) and later gain the strength and coordination to sit unassisted for longer periods. Every baby develops at their own pace, so some may sit up earlier or later than this range.
