Wasps typically go away as the weather gets colder in the autumn. In most regions, wasp season starts in spring around April when queen wasps come out of hibernation to build nests, and the wasps become most active during the summer months. Wasps usually begin to disappear, or their populations sharply decline, in September to October when temperatures drop, especially once it reaches chilly ranges around 7°C to 10°C or lower. Worker wasps die off as cold weather arrives, while queen wasps go into hibernation to survive the winter. The first freezing nights usually mark the end for the majority of wasps except the hibernating queens, which will re-emerge in the next spring to start the cycle again.
