Texas officially joined the Southeastern Conference (SEC) on July 1, 2024. This move was originally planned for 2025 but was accelerated to 2024 after a financial buyout agreement with the Big 12 Conference. Starting from the 2024–25 athletic year, Texas competes as a member of the SEC along with Oklahoma, which joined at the same time.
