Fortnite returned to the Apple App Store in the United States on May 20, 2025, after nearly a five-year ban. This followed a legal ruling and changes in Apple's App Store policies, allowing apps to include external payment methods and removing Apple's exclusive control over in-app payments—the key issue that led to Fortnite’s removal in 2020. Epic Games confirmed the game's availability via social media, and iPhone and iPad users in the U.S. can now download Fortnite directly from the App Store again.
The announcement was first made in early May 2025, with confirmation from Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney that Fortnite would be back within the second week of May. Apple took some time to approve the return officially, which culminated in the May 20 reinstatement date.
So Fortnite is already back on the App Store since May 20, 2025.
