Series 17 of Waterloo Road is scheduled to begin airing in early 2026. The series will consist of 8 episodes. Filming for series 17 has either already been completed or is currently underway, following the release of series 16 which started on 23 September 2025. The BBC has confirmed the show's future with additional series planned beyond series 17, with series 18 and 19 filming set to begin later in 2025.
